The following is an interview with InfoCamp Seattle's graphic guru, Josh, recorded in InfoCamp Seattle's secret headquarters that we rent every seventh Monday evening from the Justice League...
Cadi: So Josh, you’ve come up with the logo for InfoCamp Seattle 2012. It seems pretty rockin' -- where did you come up with the idea?
Josh: Since I was a tater tot, I've wanted to rock. Alas, I cannot play any musical instruments and have crippling stage fright. In lieu of that I have brought the art of classic 70’s hard rock to InfoCamp.
C: What do you mean by classic hard rock?
J: All the greats, you know like Autograph, Triumph, and April Wine...
C: And how does this relate to InfoCamp, exactly?
J: I don’t think there’s much worth saying, that April Wine hasn’t already said. And said well.
C: Is this just some flight of fancy, or is there a deeper meaning?
J: Oh there is so much meaning, you just have to look inside your heart to find it.
C: I see... Um, so what was the creative process like?
J: I have a lot of rad art on my Peachee, most of it is from that.
C: So what does this logo mean about this year's InfoCamp?
J: People can always come to talk about anything in the InfoSphere they are interested in, but if they're looking for inspiration, they should think about this: In this era of innovation, what old-fashioned parts of your work rock as hard as anything the kids are doing? How are you mixing yesterday's hits with the best of today? Any killer cuts from back in the day that should be dusted off and re-considered?
C: Do you have any sketches you can share with us?
J: Sure, here you can see some of our room signs.
C: That’s some nice work. Thank you for sharing your creative process with us. Any final words?
J: Stay Rockin' Like Don Dokken.
